Want to trip like a rockstar? Check Want Me Get Me

I think there are few startups I’ve loved so much at a first glance as Want Me Get Me. I met the Tristan Mace, the cofounder a couple of years ago at SXSW. This is one of these stories about connecting the dots. An Austin local that I had met the year before shot me an email the next year telling me I should absolutely meet this guy while I was at SXSW. Being a trusting person and specially coming from her, I decided to meet with this guy.

There we where, sitting down at a cafe at the Hilton lobby, ironic as you’ll see in a second. He was 20. We had some coffee and I started asking him what he was up to and after 5 minutes I was sure this guy would be millionaire soon. He pitched me his idea for Want Me Get Me and told me how he had his first company with 14, how he sold it with 17 and how he was teaching entrepreneurship at UT where he was also a student.

I don’t tend to be impressed by that kind of stuff but I it was his drive and passion what really captured me. The idea was simply genius:

I want to turn the hotel industry on itself by breaking the years old monopoly of high end VIP treats

While I’m not a VIP traveler by any definition I could totally see this disrupting a whole industry. After a week I got an email from Tristan asking me if I wanted to seat at their advisory board. I couldn’t resist, and so I’ve been giving him shit ever since.

So fast forward to October 2012. After a lot of work and learning experiencing the Want Me Get Me team finally released their product. I have to confess I’ve given Tristan a lot of shit for not pushing it faster, but better late than never. So it’s here, and you can already register. I love the quote they used:

“Want Me Get Me is a platform that lets you get rockstar treatment in any of our hotels”

I like that! Basically you’ll push what amenities do you want and hotels will bid for your offer. This allows a win-win situation for everyone. On one side, customers get treated like the aforementioned rockstars and on the other hand, hotels can compete for new high end customers, a market that tends to be pretty fixed.

So far they’re coming out with 200 hotels in the top cities in the US: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami but they’re constantly adding new destinations. Actually I was checking for one hotel in London and they had three available.

So now you know, if you like to get treated like a high roller, you know where to look, Want Me Get Me. I just hope that when Tristan is rich and famous he’ll invite me to such gorgeous hotels with Ferrari included 😉

Great job guys! Keep it coming!
